Hey Franklin FUN lovers and supporters! We’ve had lots of people asking questions about the events taking place on Saturday April 20th and we apologize for not getting you the deets sooner but here’s a quick overview of what the day will bring.
The ‘Color Me FUN 5k’ packets will be ready for pickup by Friday. Pick all packets up between 2pm-7pm at Tin Man Brewing Co. in their upstairs area. (They are located at 1430 West Franklin Street.) Color run shirts and all sorts of local business goodies will be found in your Earth friendly reusable swag bag. Your individual packet of color for the race will be included in your bag as well. We’ll be kicking off the race by everyone throwing their color in the air!
If you are not able to make it to early pickup, bags and registration will be available in the library lawn area beginning at 6:30a.m. This is also where parents/guardians will be signing a waiver form for all kids 12 and under.
- Be prepared and have your form ready: ‘Color Me Fun 5k’ Application
Children 12 and under are now FREE!! We met our attendance goal and now we want to give back to YOU and the rest of the community, especially the kids. Since they can now participate free of charge we are unable to afford shirts for them. Remember, we are not only a beginning organization but also a nonprofit organization so we encourage you to dress your kiddos in white and have them ready to be turned into a living canvas of color!!
The run will begin at 8a.m. and the route of the race will all take place on Franklin Street. Everyone will begin and end in the library lawn area. Distances will be marke but this is not a completive race. No awards will be given out for best time. This run is meant to be FUN, family friendly, and Evansville coming together to support local!
There will be five different local sponsored color stations setup that you will pass through and be showered with bright and beautiful earth friendly/edible colored powder. Since this is a powder, there is no guarantee that it may get in your eyes, mouth, etc. Some people suggest wearing googles or sun glasses to protect their eyes. That is your choice. We also suggest bringing a towel or something to lay down for you drive home.
As mentioned earlier, the race will be ending in the library lawn area where our Earth Day celebration will begin! Keep in mind that after the race a few local businesses are opening early to serve brunch. (Gerst, Tin Man Brewing Co)

Earth Day is something to be celebrated and there’s no better place then the library lawn area located at 2000 West Franklin Street! Beginning immediately after the run (estimating around 9a.m.) we’ll have over 20 local venders gathered including a variety of activities focused on children having fun and getting involved.

- Free pirate bounce house
- Children’s Art Activities
- Recycled Art Instillations
- Music from The Funk, Beaumont Grins, Salt the Earth, and The Honeyvines

Activities in the park will last until 5p.m. but there’s still plenty of MORE FUN happening on Franklin!
It wouldn’t be an FSEA event without some sort of crawl!! Join us and the Arts Council of Doom at 2pm for EDAC (Earth Day Art Crawl)! The crawl consists of ten different gallery locations located on Franklin Street plus a multitude of sculptural installations featuring the work of over 50 local artists emphasizing recycled and reused materials! Most locations are all-ages and most will be free of charge, though closing hours vary on the site.
Come get your recommended DOSE OF DOOM starting at 2pm in these participating locations:
1. Paul’s Mens Wear
2. Smitty’s Italian Steak House
3. Memi Rabilia’s
4. Heirloom Records
5. Winzerwald Winery Tasting Room
6. Franklin Lanes
7. Tin Man Brewery
8. PG Cafe

That’s our day in a nutshell and we are so excited to be spending it with you! It’s important to support local and take care of our neighbors. We couldn’t do this without the support of the community and our sponsors. We can’t thank everyone enough and we’re ready for some FRANKLIN STREET FUN!!
